About
A visual arts expert with over 25 years of museum and contemporary art experience, Tiffany Fairall is an independent fine arts advisor and appraiser. She is the owner of Fairall Art Advising and Appraisals, which offers a variety of visual arts services, including contemporary art curation, fine art advising and personal property appraisals. She is a candidate member of American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and a member of the ASA Metropolitan Phoenix Chapter. She also teaches art history for Paradise Valley Community College.
For 18 years, Tiffany’s career flourished at Mesa Contemporary Arts (MCA) Museum at Mesa Arts Center, where she evolved from Associate Curator to managing the department as Chief Curator. Under Tiffany’s leadership, MCA Museum was named “Best Museum” by NewTimes two years in a row (2019 and 2020) and received national acclaim for its edgy, thought-provoking commentaries. She was also listed by NewTimes as one of the “15 Women Curators to Know in Arizona” and selected as a 2019 Virginia G. Piper Fellow to study American civil rights and social justice focused cultural institutions and historic sites. From this experience, Tiffany refocused her curatorial vision to empower underrepresented voices and artforms and found her purpose as a First Amendment advocate.
During her time at MCA Museum, Tiffany curated and facilitated the implementation of more than 250 exhibitions and programs by emerging and internationally recognized contemporary artists, including Shepard Fairey, Ron English, Faith Ringgold, Swoon and El Mac, whose 35-foot mural Desert Rose (Nuevas Generaciones) greets visitors from the museum’s courtyard. She also raised close to $500K for various exhibitions and special projects, spearheading fundraising efforts that included two NEA grants: $60K for Cannupa Hanska Lugar’s Passage exhibition (Summer 2021) and $25K for MCA Museum’s Fall 2021 Visionary Art season, which featured Alex Grey and Allyson Grey and debuted Amanda Sage in her first solo exhibition. Tiffany was also instrumental in establishing the museum’s EnChroma Color Accessibility Program, making MCA Museum the first museum in the state to offer special glasses that expand color vision for color blind visitors.
Prior to this appointment, Tiffany was the Curatorial Assistant / Assistant Registrar for the ASU Art Museum, where she implemented events and programming for the Ceramics Research Center and helped manage the museum’s collection and exhibitions. A Regent Scholar, she received her MA and BA in Art History as well as her BFA in Graphic Design from Arizona State University. Tiffany is based in her hometown of Phoenix, Arizona.
